Change your feed icon

By now, you’re used to the standard feed icon that everyone uses.  It’s bright orange, which stands out from a page.  I never liked the standard color because orange reminds me of construction road signs, and suggests a warning message. I want my visitors to feel welcome, not warned, to sign up for my blog feeds!

With a little technical know-how, you can change your feed icon so that it matches your website color scheme, adds visual interest, and looks good enough to eat.  After all, that’s what you want people to do with your feed – eat it up! Check out some of these alternatives:


FeedIcons.com is a good place to start if you want to download the basic feed icon image, some basic colorful alternatives, and get started developing your own feed icons.  DesignBliss.com has links to the above icons, and more, available for download.  Some of the downloads feature layered .psd files, so they are well worth checking out.
